Here's the scenario.
1.With Smart Pc Fixer, one does not have to go to this extent. 2.With Smart Pc Fixer you get to save money as you do not need to call a computer technician to fix the PC for you every time it has these problems. 3.Smart Pc Fixer is very easy to use - even for the not so computer-savvy 4.One software program solves a lot of Windows Operating system problems. We recommend restarting your computer after disabling this service. While disabling the service lowered our PC’s CPU usage immediately, we noticed high resource usage from the “Service Host: Local System (Network Restricted)” that was only fixed with a full system reboot. Fix 2: Disable Superfetch Using Registry.
XenApp 6.5 Advanced on 2008 R2 SP1 Server-- HF06 (but also happens under HF05)
ActivClient 7.0.2 Middleware
Users access the environment using Smart Card or RSA authentication via a Netscaler/StoreFront portal. I have two servers in particular which have a higher smart card auth load due to an internally published PowerBuilder app. These users access the app using Receiver PNA so no Netscaler involved there, only StoreFront.
Basically on these two servers every few hours svchost.exe will crash and it will take a number of services with it:
Application Experience
Application Information
Background Intelligent Transfer
Certificate Propagation
PKE and AuthIP IPSec Keying Modules
IP Helper
Server
Multimedia Class Scheduler
User Profile
Task Scheduler
Smart Card Removal Policy
System Event Notification
Remote Desktop Configuration
Shell Hardware Detection
Themes
Windows Management Instrumentation
Windows Update

Since XenApp HotFix rollup 6 has a newer scardhook64.dll, I tried upgrading the servers from HF 5 with no change. I also applied the following Microsoft hotfixes related to Smart Card functionality: KB2799035, KB2724137, KB2521923. In fact I was fairly confident that 2799035 would fix it due to the services that were crashing being mentioned in the article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2799035

Unfortunately there was no change with the XenApp or MS hotfixes. The problem is intermittent to some degree but usually happens 2 to 3 times daily. We have not been able to find a way to reproduce it but we suspect it is smart card related due to the scardhook64.dll being mentioned. Any suggestions on how we might be able to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.
